Observe all rules, customs, and studio traditions. Come in early for help.
Notice western and "name of origin" terminology throughout your study.

These techniques make up the core of white belt level in Dynamic Hapkido. This is the Empty-hand, standing and external portion of our system. Understand there are many variations of these techniques as well as an internal training portion of our system. (hinted at before black belt and then taught). The Student must also progress in Ground-defense/Street JuJutsu as well as our weaponry training/Aiki-Kobudo to gain a Sleeping Lion Aiki Hapkido Black Belt.
Enjoy your journey

Safety Tips:
Share this with your wife, your children, everyone you know.

1. Tip from Sleeping Lion: The elbow is the strongest point on your body.
If you are close enough to use it, DO SO!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans. If a robber asks
for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from
you....chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or
purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE
OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back
tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy.
The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating,
working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list,
etc.). DON'T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the
perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun
to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON! AS YOU GET INTO YOUR
CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side
floor, in the back seat and underneath the car.
B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door.
Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans
while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the
passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car,
you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a
guard/policeman to walk you back out.
IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY.
(And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are
horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS
RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times;
And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. Women are often always trying to be sympathetic: STOP.
It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a
good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of
unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

Please use your awareness and avoidance,
                                     - with self defense training to fall back on - be safe.

Adult Students

Re: Attendance and absence

Please pick the classes that you attend per week and stick to them.
Consistency is the biggest way to make your training effective and efficient.
Student consistency also makes it easier to gauge class size and manage growth.
We consider 15 students a full class and will allow up to 18 to attend a class.
If a class stays at 4 students or less for a long period it will be changed or dropped.
For anything not covered in adults class, or for difficult schedules, try private lessons.
For your training and to stay with your class - if you miss a class make it up.
The only day we allow make up classes is Saturdays. Saturday Is a regular class too.
Please let us know of any upcoming absences over 1 week in length.
If it has been over a week since you have trained give us a call or send an email.
Discontinue training without notification and you will be billed for the last month.
We track students attendance and will try and call you after two weeks.
Communication can save us time, concern and help us adapt your training.
We are only interested in students who train on a weekly not monthly basis.
You will advance 4 times faster at 4 times a week than at one time per week.
It takes about 4 years on average at 2-3 days a week to gain a black belt.
Look at a regular adults class as 6:30 to 8:30 - less is not a full night of training.
Black Belts are expected to train a full night of training due to their requirements.
All students need to eventually progress in all 3 external areas of training.
It's the students responsibility to know their belt requirements and ask if not yet shown
All financial issues are solvable, you may trade labor or make other arrangements.
To make for easy training, understand you need -desire, time, tuition, & transportation
Learn to train when life is busy or you are not 100% - then you can always train.
Train consistently, train with dedication and focus...
You will be amazed with the results.
